This assessment always includes the opinion of two Speech and Language Therapists. COGNITIVE ASSESSMENT

When there are queries about performance in school, memory or learning it can be helpful to complete a formal assessment of a child's cognitive profile. A standardised measure is completed with a Clinical Psychologist in person, and results integrated with measures of functioning across daily life. Findings are used to develop a better understanding of strengths and difficulties, then recommendations are made to promote the child or young person's learning. We have a holistic outlook, balancing considerations of ability with welfare, looking to strengthen self-esteem. Sometimes, a diagnosis of an Intellectual Disability will be made as a result of this assessment.

If it is indicated, we are also able to complete a detailed assessment of your child's understanding and expressive use of language. Our clinical formulation is always multidisciplinary and adheres to ICD11, NICE and SIGN guidelines.
